Novel crops: supporting biodiversity & profitability on Scotland’s farms

Flax and hemp used to be grown widely around Scotland. Today, more farmers and crofters are reaping the benefits of re-introducing these crops into their rotations. Landworkers have been able to diversify their income and seen noticable improvements in soil health and habitats for pollinators.

Join us to hear from those involved in re-introducing these crops. You’ll meet farmers who’ve been through the whole journey – from growing them to branding and finding the right market. You’ll also hear from the Rowett Institute and Soil Association Scotland who have been working with farmers to gather and analyse data from these crops.
